News: Miyu Matsuki’s family raises awareness of Epstein-Barr virus that caused seiyuu’s death

Yesterday the talent agency 81 Produce updated Miyu Matsuki’s blog, letting readers know that the cause of her death was an active Epstein-Barr virus infection, which led to the case of malignant lymphoma that took her life.

Miyu MatsukiThe voice actor known for portraying Isumi Saginomiya in Hayate the Combat Butler and Anna Ninomiya in SHIMONETA passed away on October 27th, aged just 38. When Matsuki announced in July that she would be taking a long break from work to focus on treating her pneumonia, she didn’t know the underlying cause of her illness, but after testing having been admitted to hospital on June 30th, she was diagnosed with a chronic Epstein-Barr virus infection. The blog post also tells of her family’s wishes to raise awareness of the virus, in the hope that it will foster early detection in others suffering from it.
